This is a hostile takeover, disguised as “fiscal responsibility.” Unelected provincial appointees, hand-picked by this government, will now run each board. It’s an outrageous affront to public education and local democracy.
WE, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to:
- Immediately reverse the provincial takeover of Ontario’s school boards and reinstate democratically elected Trustees and our school boards;
- Restore funding lost to inflation since 2018
- Guarantee full provincial funding for statutory board expenses like CPP and EI;
- Fully fund critical student supports, including special education, mental health, and school maintenance;
- Reinstate and deliver overdue STEM, literacy, and history curriculum updates as promised;
